Harness Complexity → Achieve Sustainability
Complexity Group is a nonprofit in California, launched in 2025 to accelerate sustainability through research and analysis that decipher the complexity of human systems and educational products and services that develop complexity thinking.
Problem
Unsustainable production and consumption practices have created significant global biodiversity, climate, and social crises.
The complexity of human systems makes reversing these crises and transitioning onto sustainable paths extremely challenging.
Mission
Complexity Group accelerates sustainability by providing individuals, organizations, communities, and government agencies with strategic insight and planning capacity to harness complexity and transform society.
We do this through research and analysis that decipher the complexity of human systems and educational products and services that develop complexity thinking.
Need
Humanity needs to implement transformative solutions that sustainably reverse these crises by realigning human practices with planetary boundaries.
Developing, gaining widespread support, and implementing such solutions requires deciphering and then harnessing the complexity of human systems.
Vision
We envision a future where planet Earth is flourishing with increasing biodiversity and thriving human systems that embrace, nourish, and benefit from Earth’s complexity.
Values
We value community, harness complexity, and commit to sustainability.
Programs
We implement our mission through an ecosystem of synergistic programs, each supporting and enabling the others while contributing uniquely to addressing the problem stated above.
Complexity Advisory
We provide a diverse suite of services for new and existing individual, organizational, community, and government partners looking to address complex social and environmental challenges.
Complexity Education
We creates products that prepare future complexity thinkers capable of deciphering and harnessing complexity.
Complexity Research
We provide in-depth research that supports individuals, communities, nonprofits, and government partners in deciphering complexity in local human systems.
